Hello,

I'm writing a web application that involves plotting points on a map
from GPS coords. (along with plotting tracks)

I'm not sure what this is "called". Do I look for GIS software? Or is
that overkill. Does anyone know of opensource software that will allow
me to do this?

Try www.baylor.edu/grass

Grass is everything you will ever need in
an open source GIS. There is a webGIS
package that is a part of it, or related
that might help too.

I just picked up "Web Mapping" by O'reilly. Pretty much has everything
that I was looking for:

Hi Folks,

I have several clients that are using plain workstations for running data
servers. All are running XP Pro. We would like some way to monitor the
servers so that we can see who deletes what. Does anyone know of a
monitoring program that will log these types of events (everything would be
happening over the network), or is this just asking too much from life.

Tripwire might do the trick.
